Business phone app

The business line,
in the phone already
in their pocket.

Seglo Phone is an app on iPhone and Android. Dial pad, shared call history, voicemail, contacts and message threads, all on the business number.

01

iPhone and Android

Signed in on the phone they already own

02

The whole line

Dial pad, call history, voicemail, contacts, messages

03

Two devices included

$29 a month each after that, five in total

01 / The second handset nobody carries

A work phone works until someone forgets it.

The usual fix for “staff need to make business calls” is a second handset. It is left on a bench, flat, on the day you needed it. It costs a plan of its own. And whoever is carrying it is the only person who can answer the business.

The other fix is to let people use their own mobiles, which works immediately and quietly hands your customers a private number that walks out the door with its owner.

Neither problem is about hardware. It is about which number the call goes out on.

02 / What is in the app

A whole line, not a click-to-call button.

Open it and there is a dial pad that calls out on the business number. The call history is the team’s, not yours, so a call somebody else missed is visible to everyone. Voicemail is transcribed, so it can be read in a queue rather than listened to.

Business contacts and the SMS and MMS threads sit in the same app, which is what stops a conversation being split between a texting app and a phone app.

More on two-way SMS and MMS

What is on the screen

Dial pad

Call out on the business number, not on a personal mobile.

Call history

Shared across the team, so a missed call is not one person's problem.

Voicemail

With a transcription, so it can be read instead of listened to.

Contacts and threads

Business contacts, and SMS and MMS conversations in one place.

03 / Signing people in

Access is a switch, not an installation.

Switch phone access on for a team member and they sign in on their own device. Two devices are included, and you see the cost before you confirm a third. The first time someone opens the phone they accept a short emergency-calling notice on their own device; until they do, their dial pad stays locked, and your device list shows who is still to do it.

A device only rings while that person is signed in and still on your team, worked out fresh on every call.

04 / What it does not do

Worth knowing first.

  • It needs an internet connection and power. In an outage, use a mobile or a fixed line.
  • Human calls are not recorded or transcribed. Voicemail is.
  • Video messaging is not supported. Photographs are.
  • International calling is not included in the monthly charge and is not switched on by default.

Straight answers

About running the line in an app.

Which phones does it run on?
iPhone and Android. It installs like any other app, and your team signs in on the phone or tablet they already carry.
Do I need a separate work phone?
No. That is the point of it. The business line runs alongside your personal line on the same handset, and calls you make from the app show the business number.
Can I tell a business call from a personal one before I answer?
Yes. A business call arrives through the Seglo Phone app, so it is already distinguishable from a call to your personal number, and you can see who is calling before you speak.
What is a device, for pricing?
Any phone or tablet signed in to Seglo Phone. One person using both a phone and a tablet counts as two devices. Two are included in the $79 monthly charge and each one after that is $29 a month, up to five in total.
What happens to voicemail?
Voicemail is recorded and transcribed, so it can be read rather than listened to. Human calls are not recorded or transcribed.
Does it work over mobile data as well as wi-fi?
Yes, it works over any working internet connection. It is a voice-over-IP service, so it needs a connection and power, and it will not place or receive calls, including emergency calls, during an internet or power outage.
What happens when a staff member leaves?
Take them off the team and the next call skips their device. There is no password to change, nothing to collect, and the call and message history stays with the business.

Put the business line on the phones you already own.

What it costs. $149 once to set up, then $79 a month including two devices. Each device after that is $29 a month, up to five. Prices exclude GST, which is shown as its own line on the invoice. Month to month, exit cost nothing, so the least you can spend is $228.

Emergency calls (000, 112, 106). 000 and 112 work from Seglo Phone, and they need power and a working internet connection. In an outage, use a mobile or a fixed line. Emergency services see the service address you have registered, not where the person calling is standing. Always keep another way to reach emergency services. 106 is handled separately and is not carried as a voice call by the app.

Conversation, not campaigns. Your number is for talking to your own customers. Bulk marketing goes out on the platform messaging channel instead, and a number that starts behaving like a broadcast is throttled. That is what keeps it deliverable.
