01 / Why you have not done it

Every quote was written for a bigger business.

Ask about a business phone system at three people and you get a proposal shaped for thirty: handsets per desk, a term, an install, an admin console someone is supposed to learn. The honest reaction is to close the quote and keep using the mobile.

So the mobile stays the business number. It works, right up until the owner takes a day off, or the one person who has it is on a job, or they leave and take four years of customer conversations with them.

The cost of not deciding is not a missed call. It is that the business does not own its own number.

02 / What small actually needs

A number more than one person can pick up.

Not extensions. Not a receptionist console. Not call queues. At this size the whole requirement is: the business has one number, several people can answer it, everyone can text from it, and nobody’s personal mobile is exposed.

That is the entire product. It rings every signed-in device at once, the first person to answer takes it, and the conversation stays with the business afterwards.

Adding your third person is a switch in settings and $29 a month, not a site visit.

How a shared number rings

What it costs at your size

Two people

Included. $79 a month covers two signed-in devices.

Three to five

$29 a month for each device after the first two.

Setup

$149 once, whether you bring a number or take a new one.

Minimum spend

$228 in total: the setup plus one month. Prices exclude GST.

03 / Getting out again

The exit is the part worth reading.

Month to month, no exit charge, so the least you can spend is $228: the $149 setup plus one month at $79. The setup charge is refundable in full until the transfer is lodged with the carrier, and if you cancel within the first ten business days after going live, the month comes back too.

If you leave, the number goes with you. Start the transfer out within thirty days of closing the account.

Straight answers

At two, three and five people.

Is this worth it for two or three people?
Two devices are included in the $79 monthly charge, so a two-person business pays $79 a month plus the one-off $149 setup. There is nothing to install and no technician, which is usually what made a phone system not worth it at that size.
What does it cost as we add people?
Each device beyond the first two is $29 a month, up to five devices in total. A device is any phone or tablet signed in, so one person using both counts as two. You see the cost before you confirm an extra device.
Do we need an office or a fixed address?
You need a service address registered against the number, because that is the address emergency services see when someone calls 000 from the app. You do not need an office for the phone to work; it works anywhere there is an internet connection.
Can we start with a new number and port ours later?
A new Australian number is ready in a day or two, and bringing an existing number across is included in the same $149 setup charge. The transfer is checked before you are charged.
What if it does not suit us?
The plan is month to month with no exit charge. The setup charge is fully refundable until the transfer is lodged with the carrier or a new number is activated, and if you cancel within the first ten business days after going live, that month is refunded too.
Is it unlimited?
Standard Australian calls, SMS and MMS are included under fair use with no per-minute or per-message metering. Fair use means ordinary business conversation, not bulk or marketing sending. International calling is not included and is not switched on by default.

Give a small business a number it actually owns.

What it costs. $149 once to set up, then $79 a month including two devices. Each device after that is $29 a month, up to five. Prices exclude GST, which is shown as its own line on the invoice. Month to month, exit cost nothing, so the least you can spend is $228.

Emergency calls (000, 112, 106). 000 and 112 work from Seglo Phone, and they need power and a working internet connection. In an outage, use a mobile or a fixed line. Emergency services see the service address you have registered, not where the person calling is standing. Always keep another way to reach emergency services. 106 is handled separately and is not carried as a voice call by the app.

Conversation, not campaigns. Your number is for talking to your own customers. Bulk marketing goes out on the platform messaging channel instead, and a number that starts behaving like a broadcast is throttled. That is what keeps it deliverable.
